Wisconsin State of Motion Fair (Virtual)

STEM Forward is excited to offer this fun virtual challenge for the first time this summer.  Since many summer activities and events are canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are offering the Wisconsin State of Motion Fair, a STEM competition for middle school students.

The challenge is to design a working model that actively demonstrates one (or more) of Newton’s Laws of Motion that can be experienced at the Wisconsin State or a County Fair. What is your favorite part of the Fair?  Is it the Ferris Wheel?  Or the giant slide?  What about watching the horse-drawn carriage show?  Or the cow that refuses to move during judging?  You decide what portion of the fair best represents Newton’s laws of motion.  The challenge is for students to design a model that best demonstrates a law of motion, record a presentation of this, and submit it!

There is no preregistration or fees to register. Enter by August 3, 2020, to be eligible to win. Although this is a fun challenge, submissions will be judged and the winning team will receive Amazon gift cards. Winners will be announced on August 10, 2020.
